Fred Astaire Dance Studios

If you’re looking for a place to learn to dance, build confidence, and genuinely have fun, the Fred Astaire ballroom dance studio in Solana Beach is absolutely outstanding. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming, upbeat, and incredibly supportive. The instructors are extremely talented dancers, as well as patient, encouraging teachers who know how to make learning enjoyable for students at every level. What truly sets this recently opened Solana Beach studio apart is the quality of instruction, overseen by Jonathan, a former World and US Ballroom Dance champion who appeared in Dancing With the Stars for seven seasons. Lessons are thoughtfully structured and tailored to the student’s goals—whether you’re preparing for a wedding, looking to improve your technique, want to dance competitively, or simply want to enjoy the social side of dancing. The instructors break down complex steps in a way that makes them easy to understand, and their enthusiasm is contagious. The studio itself is beautiful and well-maintained, with a lively, positive energy that makes every visit something to look forward to. Group classes and practice parties create a wonderful sense of community. After just a few lessons, you’ll be amazed at how much progress you can make. The confidence you gain on the dance floor carries over into everyday life as well. I highly recommend this studio to anyone interested in ballroom dancing—whether you’re a beginner, an experienced dancer looking to refine your skills, or a competitive dancer looking to up your game. It’s a fantastic place to learn, grow, and have a great time doing it.

The instructors are not only talented dancers, but excellent teachers—they break everything down in a way that makes it easy to learn while still challenging you to improve. What I appreciate most is how personalized the experience is. They meet you at your level, help you progress at the right pace, and genuinely care about your development. Whether you’re dancing for fun or preparing for competitions, you feel supported every step of the way. Mark and Susie Chapparone

So excited about this studio! And Wow!!! Jonathan Roberts from Dancing with the Stars?!!! Can it get any better! Everyone here is so nice and can’t wait to come to my next lesson, group classes and Practice parties! Excited to call this studio my new home away from home :)

John is wonderful! Very patient and welcoming and makes it easy to relax and have fun even with my two left feet.

We came to Fred Astaire for private and group lessons to prepare for an event. We have been to several other dance studios in the past, and this one is the best! The instructors are all fantastic, great dancers, and most importantly, great teachers. I highly recommend them
