Elementary 1 Modern is a Ballet class at Studio North Dance Arts.

GRADE: Second, Third & Fourth grades (ages 7-10) PRE-REQUISITES: none PROGRAM LENGTH: 1-3 years depending on student grade/age Elementary 1 Modern is an introductory class designed for students in second, third, and fourth grade (ages 7–10) with little to no prior modern dance experience. Dancers will explore foundational modern concepts, including body awareness, floor work, and level changes, while building coordination, strength, and flexibility in a fun, supportive environment. Class will introduce proper modern vocabulary and simple technique through creative movement exercises, with an introduction to Limón technique in the fall and Horton technique in the winter. The recital dance will bring together elements of both techniques based on the class's overall strengths, helping young dancers develop confidence and a love of movement as they prepare for more advanced levels. We strongly recommend a ballet class in conjunction with modern to provide students with a better understanding of body alignment and placement, and to aid in the development of strength, technique and performance. CLASS REQUIREMENTS: - Students must be at least in second grade/7 years of age by August 31st of the given school year. -Student must maintain an 75% attendance record for the school year. Make-up classes should be taken within one month of absences to reinforce skills being learned. - If a student's attendance average falls below the minimum requirement, a meeting may be arranged to discuss student's participation in class and/or the recital to be sure the student is learning the necessary skills and can be successful in class and on the stage. The cost shown reflects monthly installment plan pricing. Total tuition due is determined on the number of classes remaining in the season at the time of registration.
